The competition for development of Open Data-enabled mobile applications announced for students in Astana

National Information Technologies JSC and “Astana Business Campus” innovation cluster announce the “Open Apps” competition among University students of Astana for the development of applications and services based on Open Data published on the data.egov.kz portal. 

Presentations devoted to Open Data portal and workshops on creation of mobile apps will be held for participants under competition taking place at Astana Business Campus, which will help creating in-demand and qualitative product.   All the competition participants may obtain any consultations and answers to their questions from the dedicated NIT JSC experts.

Under the competition conditions, participants need to develop mobile applications for iOS, Android and Windows Phone using Open Data published on the data.gov.kz portal via API. Also, Open Data-enabled web applications (web services, telegram bots, etc.) will be considered as alternative to mobile apps.

That is compulsory to use data from data.egov.kz portal for development, besides it is important that the created IT product will be useful and socially important. Also, participants can use external services and other API. Creative design and multi-language interface will be welcomed. Copyright for application shall be reserved by the developer.

The developer of the best application or service will get a transformer ultrabook.

Registration for participation in the competition will last until 8 December 2016, and the reception of works will be completed January 25, 2017. Results will be announced on 30 January.
