| Description | “Stop Credit” is a free service available on the eGov.kz portal and in the eGov Mobile application, which allows any citizen to impose a ban on the issuance of bank loans and microloans for an unlimited period of time. Such a restriction can be set only by the borrower, and the same person may remove the ban at any time. There are no limits on the number or frequency of setting or lifting this restriction. Since February 2024, in accordance with paragraph 5-1 of Article 34 of the Law “On Banks and Banking Activity in the Republic of Kazakhstan” and paragraph 3-2 of Article 3 of the Law “On Microfinance Activity,” an individual has the right to establish, free of charge, a voluntary refusal to obtain bank loans and/or microloans, or to revoke it, through a credit bureau or via the e-government web portal. A self-imposed ban on the issuance of loans may be set for an unlimited period of time and lifted at any time. There are no restrictions on the number or frequency of activating or deactivating this service. It is important to note that it is not possible to activate this service on behalf of another person—each individual must do so independently. Therefore, one should not trust various “intermediaries” who offer to set up “Stop Credit” for a nominal fee. |
