Information society development in Kazakhstan was discussed at WSIS summit in New York

Delegation of the Republic of Kazakhstan took part in The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) at the UN General Assembly platform in New York.
During the summit it was mentioned, that the goals set up by President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N. Nazarbayev in the National plan of 100 specific steps for the realization of five institutional reforms, match and meet the aims of WSIS.
“As the answer to the global changes this year our President accepted 100 specific steps and at least 10 of them are aimed to create transparent government”, - said Zhanat Zhakhmetova, Head of Informatization Policy Formulation Office, Committee of Communications, Informatization and Information of the Ministry of Investments and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
“For all the steps there has been done tremendous work on altering the legislation. One of them gives the opportunity for further ICT development, by enhancing usage of cloud computing, implementing enterprise architecture and prioritizing open source. The other law is aimed to create open government and increase the amount of open data from the governmental bodies. Also, to open their budgets, enhance the citizens engagement in decision making processes. The third law gives the basement for creation the Unified service center - Government for citizens, which allows to receive the governmental services from one place”, - added Zhakhmetova.
In ten years Kazakhstan has created and developed the electronic government that gives citizens an opportunity to get more than 700 electronic services. Citizens have received more than 100 million governmental services online.
During the summit Kazakhstan delegation has also discussed further cooperation with the UN and international consultants.
