E-Gov development issues discussed at Profit Government Day conference

Further e-Gov development was discussed in Astana in the course of Profit Government Day 2016 “Information Technologies in Public Sector. Dialogue with Businesses” conference. 

On the first day of the event, IT executives of public sector shared their plans on implementation of service-based informatization model and also clarified novelties to ICT legislation. Along with that, representatives of major IT corporations told about benefits of their products for public sector.

Samat Imbayev, Managing Director for Technological Modernization and Development in NIT JSC, made report at Profit Government Day conference on the topic “E-Gov Infrastructure Development”. The report provided information on areas of NIT JSC activities aimed at creating, maintaining and developing e-Gov information and communication platform and its entire infrastructure, as well as providing safety and resilient operation of composite systems. According to S. Imbayev, in 3 years, the company intends the stage-by-stage migration to software-defined technologies pursuant to current trends. In addition, the issue is considered of constructing a new Data Center that will meet high resilience and capacity requirements and also, the creation of e-Gov back-up platform to ensure information systems` flawless operation.  

Also, as part of Profit Government Day, Nazerke Akhmetzhanova, Head of Administering Unit under Internet resources and Open Government Department of NIT JSC, made a report on open government in the conference session. Using successful case studies, she told about benefits of Open Data application in public sector, social sphere and business. The main part of the report was dedicated to the work executed in Kazakhstan on Open Data, the results thereof and further development plans. Work of external developers who won prizes on various competitions on web development creating applications with the use of open datasets   was also mentioned.  

It should be mentioned that to date about 2000 open datasets have been published on data.egov.kz. Over 20 mobile apps and services based thereon were developed during various competitions and hackathons.

For reference: Profit Government Day is a traditional annual event with public sector`s executives and IT leaders participating. 

On September 27, 2016, in Radisson hotel in Astana, Profit Government Day 2016 “InformationTechnologies in Public Sector. Dialogue with Business” conference was held. On September 29-30, 2016, in Holiday Inn hotel in Almaty, roundtable discussions with businesses and IT market will take place.
