In Astana, open data in transport were discussed

The Roundtable on “Open Data in the Field of Transport” was held in Astana, hosted by National Information Technologies JSC with participation of Transport Committee under Ministry for Investments and Development, Republic of Kazakhstan.

         The event’s objective was to discuss the benefits of usage of open data and to share opinions with the parties directly involved in transport and logistics business. Private sector members asked their questions and shared their vision in this sphere.

         Specifically, the items in preliminary list of open data were worked out regarding the Transport Committee’s activity. Thus, it was suggested to include in the list of publicly available information the details of stations (railway stations, vehicle fleets, bus terminals, etc.), data on transportation of cargo (cost per size, transportation distance, etc.), as well as routes of long-distance passenger carriages (schedule, ticket prices).

     Open Data refers to the concept dealing with the idea that certain data of both public and private sectors must be freely available for machine-readable use and further re-publication without any limitations of copyright, patents and other control mechanisms. Users may obtain the up-to-date, valid information on a regular basis, both via the portal and the services and apps that are created by business sector based on open data.
